Two Streams, One Community

Born in 2002 alongside the school, the Arts and Commerce streams together equip students with diverse skills for a wide range of professional and academic pathways. Both follow the BHSEC curriculum and are taught by experienced faculty in well-resourced classrooms with active learning spaces.

The Commerce Department of Ugyen Academy strives to achieve success not only in academic education but also as a major civil institute in children’s lives — helping them grow into responsible, well-adjusted, independent and successful adults with purity in heart.

With the blessing from Hon’ble Yab Dasho Ugyen Dorjee and Yum Thujay Zam, and under the wise leadership of Dasho Norbu Gyeltshen (Principal), the faculty has always produced students who are their best holistically — in academics and in self-discipline. Education here is wholesome, so that the motto “Be Your Best” may be achieved by every student.

Teachers ensure each student learns how to be their best in everything they try, knows who they are and knows what they like. It is no surprise that Ugyen Academy Commerce graduates are known to be well-mannered, well-educated and successful.

“If you are a parent or a student looking to study Commerce under the best faculty, then Ugyen Academy is the school for you.” — UA Commerce Faculty

Finally, we — the faculty of Commerce — convey our deepest gratitude to the Hon’ble Yab, Yum, Principal and all others associated with the school for fully supporting us in every way. We pray that the school continues to attain new heights of success year after year, remaining the dream place of study for all young people. Cheers!

The Arts Department of Ugyen Academy has seen over two decades of successful results since 2002. The department is proud of having produced some of the top results in Bhutan. Every year, besides the colleges under the Royal University of Bhutan, UA students are selected by internationally recognized universities.

The department boasts of outstanding results not only in BHSEC but also in ISC. It has produced national toppers across multiple boards and abroad.

National Toppers from the Department

  • 2005
Yina Song (ISC) — now a lawyer in Seattle, NY, USA.
  • 2008
    Gaki Lhamo — RCSC Topper.
  • 2012
Namgay Choden (BHSEC) — a student at NUS, Singapore.

Students receive a lot of care and attention from teachers with more than ten years of experience. Sir Sangay Wangdi — who has successfully published BHSEC History guidebooks — and Ms Bharati Thapa, well known for her top results in Geography, together manage the Arts Department to ensure students receive the very best available.

Students enjoy the liberty to ask questions and seek help from the many Arts teachers. They are provided with extra reading material and help whenever needed, and teachers ensure that their time is productively used.

Studies are supplemented with various workshops and lectures — lecturers and specialists are often invited to give in-depth knowledge on certain subjects. Students are also encouraged to be innovative through co-curricular activities, the annual subject exhibition and plays.

With the hard work of the UA Arts Faculty, the school is proud to deliver some of the best BHSEC results in the country.

“If a student wants to bring out the best in them with the help of caring, loving and hard-working teachers, then studying under the Ugyen Academy Arts Department is the right choice.” — UA Arts Faculty
