Khuruthang, Punakha — Ugyen Academy was blessed with a spiritually meaningful visit as monks from Nalanda Buddhist Institute and Talo Sangachoeling Buddhist Institute walked into the school campus as part of the traditional Jong-jhuk practice following the completion of the 45-day summer rain retreat (Yarney).
Jong-jhuk is a cherished Buddhist tradition observed at the conclusion of the summer rain retreat. After spending 45 days in disciplined retreat devoted to meditation, study, and spiritual practice, monks walk through local communities to share the merit and blessings accumulated during the retreat with the wider community.
The arrival of the monks at Ugyen Academy created a serene and spiritually uplifting atmosphere across the campus. Students and staff gathered to receive their blessings and offer their respects, making the occasion a meaningful moment of connection between the monastic and educational communities.
The visit also provided an opportunity for the school community to reflect on the values of compassion, mindfulness, devotion, and harmony—values that complement the holistic education and character development promoted at Ugyen Academy.
Ugyen Academy extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Khenpos, Trulku Rinpoche, and all the monks of Nalanda Buddhist Institute and Talo Sangachoeling Buddhist Institute for visiting the campus and graciously sharing their blessings with the school community. The school deeply values this sacred and auspicious occasion and the sense of peace, spiritual inspiration, and harmony it has brought to the campus.
May the merit of this auspicious occasion bring peace, happiness, harmony, and well-being to all.
